Reyes, I heard, didn't look exceptional at Binghamton. I guess they felt obligated to promote him after signing him in mid-August. source Daily News

Al Reyes has the most saves of any active player on the Mets roster, just last year he saved 26 of 30 opportunities. I expected the Mets to see what Reyes could provide down the stretch, whether it was as a set-up man or closer. It's true that he posted an ERA of 4.37 which resulted in his release from the Rays but if you asked Reyes he would say that he had an elbow injury early in the season and then never got the opportunity to get in a rhythm. Reyes was signed and placed in AA where he pitched five scoreless innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out three. But while Jerry Manuel has gone through multiple relievers each night Reyes hasn't thrown a single official pitch. Adam Rubin may shed some light as to why that maybe the case.....
