It's being reported by the NY Times that the Mets have extended an initial offer to starting pitcher Derek Lowe. The Times states that they have a source that believes the deal is believed to be around 36M over three years. I'm sure the price will go up some before he agrees to a deal with anyone but this offer will at least remove the casually interested from the bidding. I also wouldn't be surprised if an additional year is added with either an incentive laden option or mutual option. It appears that Lowe is the primary target with Ollie and Wolf somewhere behind him.
the Mets have determined that Derek Lowe would be the best addition to their club. The Mets have shown that by offering Lowe a three-year contract for about $36 million, according to people who have been briefed on the discussions. source NY Times
