Nixon signs with the Brew Crew....

Trot Nixon's brief career with the Mets is officially over, the free agent veteran outfielder has signed with the Brewers. Prior to the 2008 season, Nixon signed a minor league deal with the D-Backs but never made the team instead being assigned to AAA, the Mets traded for him mid-season after they incurred injuries to both corner outfielders (Alou/Church). Not only were they hoping for a starting left fielder but also a veteran leader for the clubhouse. Nixon ended up playing in only played in 11 games before he went down with an injury that resulted in a hernia operation. It was thought that Nixon's injury was season ending but by Sept. he was in New Orleans and hitting over .300, by then the Mets had gone in another direction and he never recieved a call-up....

Looking for ways to get some left-handed bats on their roster, the Brewers have decided to take a look at former Boston standout Trot Nixon.

The Brewers just announced that they have signed the 34-year-old outfielder to a minor league contract with an invitation to their spring training. It’s another low risk move that could end up filling a roster spot with a left-handed hitter. source J.S. Online
