Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Red Sox's are on the verge of signing Brad Penny. According to reports Penny will sign a one year deal and aside from the language of the contract it is pending a physical. Penny will join the Boston rotation giving them five solid starters, which should mean that they are out of the starters market.
Adding Penny would be Boston's first big move of the offseason after it lost out on slugger Mark Teixeira earlier this month. Penny would join an already formidable rotation that includes Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, Daisuke Matsuzaka and Tim Wakefield. source Fox sports
