Vazquez implications

It appears that the Braves are on the verge of trading for Javier Vazquez. So what are the implications of the Braves acquiring Vazquez. Well first of all the Mets were rumored to be interested in Vazquez and will now need to look elsewhere for a quality starter. Vazquez is a 32 y/o right hander with a lifetime ERA of 4.32 and a record of 127-129. But if the Vazquez trade was made instead of Jake Peavy, then it actually helps the Mets. Vazquez is a solid pitcher but he's not the top of the rotation guy that Peavy would have been. The Braves aren't giving up anyone of immediate impact on the major league level, Brent Lillibridge only hit .200 in his 23 gms with the big league club and the pitcher is also a minor leaguer.

The Braves, moving to address their starting pitching needs, have reached agreement with the White Sox on a trade for right-hander Javier Vazquez, according to major-league sources. source Fox sports
