MLBTR has some interesting quotes from a radio interview of Braves GM Frank Wren. Some believe that Boras has had an unofficial version of the Braves offer since Saturday, just as he has had the Mets since probably Christmas Eve. This could simply be an attempt by Wren to move this process along, one of Boras' tactics once he gets at least two teams involved is to sit back and let the anxiety raise the offers. It doesn't appear that either team is falling for that and were once again at a stale mate. Wren's suggestions of a trade could be simply a nudge to get things going again...
Of course, this could also be what he says it is, the Braves could have attempted every ploy possible to get Lowe on a discount and realized that this will simply come down to money. Could the Braves interest be waining in a 35 y/o right hander who will cost them 14-15MM per year for probably four years....
There's other guys out there that we like. I have trade proposals on my desk as we speak that would bring another pitcher to us. There's other things we can do...The trade proposal that I have on my desk - that was put in place six weeks ago. source MLBTR
