The Braves are trying hard to finalize a deal that would solidify their rotation. The deal for Lowe is believed to be for close to $60 million over four years. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution first reported the Braves were offering about $15 million per year in their efforts to beat the rival New York Mets to Lowe. source SI.com

Lowe near deal with Braves....
Reports indicate that the Braves are on the verge of signing Derek Lowe, if accurate the deal would be somewhere in the neighborhood of four years and 60MM. All we've heard since Christmas Eve is that Lowe was their #1 target, so any statements that say Ollie was truly who they wanted are simply spin in my opinion. Not only did the Mets get out bid but Lowe is now with a division rival, a team that without him would be an after thought in the East. So now were left to worry that they may bow out if Ollie turns into a bidding war, the Wipon's maybe saying their not struggling financially but they sure are acting like it.
