So is this the Boras classic mystery team, the Washington Nationals. They are an east coast team, however; they are not a contender. The Nats appear to be looking to spend money and could probably over pay for Derek Lowe, the only question then becomes, would he go there ? Lowe only has a few years left and has said he wanted to spend them on a winning team, but would the extra money Washington spent be worth toiling in the division basement...
Some believe the Nationals could be a suitor for Lowe, the best available starter on the market, given that Washington needs an ace and wasn't shy about entering the Teixeira sweepstakes. The Phillies and Braves also could supersede the Mets' offer for Lowe. source NY Post
