It's looking more and more like Bobby Parnell is going to make this team out of spring training as a reliever. Parnell has two things working in his favor; the first is that he's a swing and miss, strike out pitcher and the other is that when a batter does make contact it's generally a grounder. So far this spring he's appeared in five games, 6.2 innings with an ERA of 4.05. As of late he has been very good which has prompted talk of him not only making the team but being the primary guy in the 7th inning.....
Don't be surprised if hard-throwing right-hander Bobby Parnell starts the season as Manuel's No. 1 choice - even against lefties - in the seventh inning.
Parnell threw another impressive scoreless inning yesterday against the Braves and has allowed just one hit in his past 4" innings combined this spring. source NY Post
