Jose wants home...

Jack Curry of the NY Times has a great piece today on the Jackie Robinson Rotunda and the legacy Robinson has left behind. As part of the article Curry interviews Jose Reyes who appears to be enamoured with a specific part of Robinson's game, stealing home. In 2006 I was at the Milledge high five game and most of us were chanting for Reyes to steal home when he was on third with Delgado at the plate and a flustered Bennie (Benitez) on the mound.

“Maybe, one day soon, I’ll try it,” Reyes said. “I want to try, but they always talk to me about it. When Carlos Delgado is hitting, the third baseman is almost playing at shortstop. That’s why I can take a huge lead there. I’m going to try and do it. Sooner or later, you’re going to see me.” source NY Times
