First mistakes of the off-season- The staff

The one positive thing that the Mets did today is that they acted swiftly, however; I do not believe enough was done and they have made their first miscalculation of the off-season.
The Mets needed to clean house, for any of the staff to return was a slap in the face of any Mets fan who already suffered through a horrendously disappointing three year stretch.

Luis Alicea was in charge of base running and infield defense so he deserved to be let go as the Mets were bad in both aspects of the game.

I believe the manager and bench manager should be a yin/yang of each other and Sandy Alomar Sr. has too similar a personality to Jerry Manuel.

But how Razor Shines remains, who failed as the outfield coach with Murphy and was awful with runners at third base; Dan Warthen who's staff walked the most hitters in the league and saw the regression of Pelfrey, Perez and Maine is beyond me...

Not only is it my perception that Shines was awful but the players voiced their concern over his coaching to upper mgt.

The return of Shines, a close friend of manager Jerry Manuel, indicates that the club supports Manuel despite the disappointing season that ended on Sunday. Players were not pleased with Shines' performance at third base and said they relayed their thoughts to upper management. source MLB.com
