Another catcher who has been linked to the Mets is Rod Barajas, in fact it was reported, at one time that Barajas was their top choice. Since then it seems that Bengie Molina has surpassed him on the Mets wish list but he is still someone to keep an eye on. The Jays believe he will sign elsewhere but they may offer him arby anyway to obtain the draft pick as compensation for losing his services. Barajas is a type B free agent, so the Jays will be awarded a sandwich pick that will not effect the signing team...
The Toronto Blue Jays will almost certainly offer arbitration to Marco Scutaro and Rod Barajas, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney. In today's blog entry, Olney applauds the work being done by GM Alex Anthopolous, who will secure the team three compensation picks if Scutaro and Barajas sign elsewhere, as is expected. source MLBTR
