Adam Rubin speculates about Jack Cust, apparently the 30 y/o OF/DH is available and the A's are looking to move him before salary arbitration. He won't cost much in trade or contract and will provide 25 HRs and 100 walks but he is also only a .239 hitter with almost 200 strikeouts per season. Add to that, that he has an awful UZR in the outfield and has only played 17 minor league games at 1B and I think he belongs in the AL as a DH....
Cust, 30, who hails from Flemington, N.J., hit .240 with 25 homers and 70 RBI in 513 at-bats last season. He earned $2.8 million and should be dealt before the nontender deadline in less than three weeks, since Oakland does not want to pay the salary Cust would be awarded in arbitration, which may be in the $4-5 million range source Daily news
