Ken Rosenthal reported earlier today that the Mets are interested in Adam Kennedy. If the Mets hadn't already signed Cora, I would think he was being brought in as a utility player that could be made the second baseman if Castillo was moved but with Cora signed Kennedy is part of the back-up plan if Hudson goes elsewhere and they move Castillo.I like Kennedy I wanted him last year for the role Cora filled ( post here), he has a little power and hits for a decent average, can play four positions ( 1B, 2B, 3B, LF) and has been clutch in the post season...
The Mets and Diamondbacks are the teams showing the most interest in free agent Adam Kennedy, major-league sources say, viewing him as a potential starter at second base.
The Mets, if they traded Luis Castillo, could sign Kennedy as a less expensive option than Orlando Hudson. The Diamondbacks, who traded Felipe Lopez to the Brewers last July, also are looking for help at second. source Fox Sports
