Outfield tidbits: Cammy, Nady & Matsui

So will the Mets surprise the experts and sign either Holliday /Bay or will they do as expected and go after a second tier outfielder. From a marketing point of view, if they are perceived to be frugal it could be a nightmare but with that in mind I can't find an expert out there who believes the Mets are going to be serious contenders for any of the big free agents...

Depending on you confidence in the organization the Mets are either doing their due diligence in looking into every possibility at each hole they have or are proving the experts right by looking into the second tier outfielders.

Buster Olney reports that the Mets have looked in on Michael Cameron and Xavier Nady while NBP tracker reports that the Mets requested Matsui's medical records.

There is pretty good list of available corner outfielders, and the Mets have discussed Mike Cameron -- who indicated last week that he could be willing to consider a shift to the corner outfield under the right circumstances -- and Xavier Nady and others. The Mets should get a good outfielder. They should get a good first baseman, if they spend $5-7 million. There are a lot of choices available, and there will be more, as some players are not tendered contracts. The Mets, and the Yankees, will again be among the more proactive teams. source ESPN
