Johan calls Mora regularly to come to NY

Yesterday there was a rumor that former Met Melvin Mora was choosing between three teams. Reportedly Mora preferred to be on the west coast but it was rumored that the Mets maybe one of the teams involved. I completed this post on that rumor.

In that post I was adamantly against the idea of Mora because he spent most of the last few years in Baltimore complaining about playing time and not having a steady position.

I'll relent just slightly from that stance, if Mora understood he was coming in to replace Tatis on the bench and they felt it was a good situation because of his friendships with players on the team, then I could understand bringing him in. Mora is a solid defender at multiple positions and in just 2008 hit .285/ OBP .342 and Slg. .358.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Johan is calling him regularly in an attempt to talk him in to coming back to NY. I'm not sure how true the rumor is that he wants to play on the west coast as he talks about living in Baltimore in the article.

he said he talks regularly with Mets ace Johan Santana, who wants him to play for New York. Mora said he is letting his agent handle the negotiations. source Baltimore Sun
