These are not the words of a team content with their catcher

Listen I've said this before, but there are no take backs in the age of the Internet. It's too easy for some knucklehead like myself who remembers something they read to goggle until they find the quote they remember, which supports their argument. In my last post about Barajas I linked to several articles that supported my position, that the team needs a new catcher, but we can all say that Jerry and Dan are blaming the catcher, sabermetrics are a bunch of hooey and the Jays had a good staff regardless of what Rod did. But I want to leave you tonight with what our own pitching staff had to say, if they were praising Molina this much a guy many say we were lucky to miss out on then what does that say about the incumbent Omir Santos. It certainly sounds like from just this one article that Feliciano, Pelfrey and Maine were looking forward to a new catcher...

"Molina is a good guy," Feliciano said. "He has a good mind, he knows about hitters and he knows about the game. He'd be a good addition for this team, for the pitchers."

"It's their decision," Pelfrey said of GM Omar Minaya and the front office. "But I think he'd be a huge pickup. He hit cleanup for the Giants, so offensively, that's another good bat in the lineup. And, obviously, with what he did with (Matt) Cain and (two-time Cy Young winner Tim) Lincecum over there, he must be pretty good behind the plate to handle those guys. I'm sure those guys aren't easy to handle."

He has a solid reputation for handling pitchers, which seems to have trickled down
to Met hurlers. "I feel that a really good catcher can make a pitching staff better," Maine said. "By having him - if we do get him - he's a good catcher. He's always been a good catcher and he'd help all of us out. He'd be a big plus if we do get him." source
