Escobar maybe forced to retire...

David Winstein of the NY Times takes a look at Kelvim Escobar's situation. Escobar believes he shouldn't have taken a break for four weeks between winter ball and the start of spring training. During the time off instead of the shoulder getting rest it became weak. He stated that if he continues to feel pain he will have an MRI, depending on what the doctors say, will dictate what direction he takes. If the doctors believe he has a reasonable chance of pitching again, he said he will endure one more surgery, if not then it could be he end of the road for his pitching career....

His plan is to strengthen his shoulder by working with the physical therapist Chris Correnti, who has helped Johan Santana in his recovery from elbow surgery. Escobar hopes to play catch in about two weeks, and if he still feels pain, he will probably have a magnetic resonance imaging test to determine the extent of his injury.

If it is determined he needs surgery, Escobar said he would have it, as long as the doctors tell him he could pitch again. But that would be his last attempt.source NY Times
