Now when you consider that the Reds need a shortstop, lead off hitter and left handed bats, it would make sense to connect the two teams.
But there's a jump between connecting the dots and speculating to having sources that link the two sides or that even your team has discussed the possibility.
A blog called Blog Red Machine posted today that "insiders" said the Reds have talked about what it would take to get Reyes, just to clarify while Blog Red Machine appears to be a legitimate site no other Reds site including the local beat writers have this rumor.
The Reds apparently are using Yonder Alonso a first base prospect as trade bait, which would mean they'd need a third team to work with the Mets. However, the Mets need pitching and the Reds may struggle to work out an extension with Johnny Cueto.
I'm not a break up the core fan but I would also listen to offers regarding anyone, I would also listen to Reyes offers more intently then David Wright. Pagan could hit lead off and you could either go with Tejada at short or sign a cheap veteran to fill the spot. Not only is the Mets best prospect a SS but it's harder to find middle of the order hitters. You would still need to bowl me over with an incredible offer to get me to seriously think about moving him...
Several insiders have reported that the Reds have discussed what it would take to land Jose Reyes from the Mets. To this point, I am unsure how far the talks have progressed and whether the talks are still going on. source Blog Red Machine
