Izzy tweaks his back...

The front office is looking very good, Jason Isringhausen had a great spring and there were many who didn't want to ruffle the feathers of a veteran closer to keep a journeyman in Blaine Boyer.  The Mets didn't feel Boyer was a better option but what they were attempting to do was keep all their options.  More importantly then finding away to keep them both was to find out whether Izzy could remain healthy.

See if the Mets had kept Izzy over Boyer and then Boyer walked, if Izzy then got hurt the Mets really didn't have much depth.  I think there best option would have been Igarashi who still hasn't shown his game can translate to American Baseball.

I'm purposely not including Manny Acosta because we have no idea what will be the out come of his situation.  But if Acosta remains with the organization then of course he becomes one of the best options to be recalled.

Boyer showed last night in a very strong 10th inning closing assignment that he just maybe a late blooming reliever.  Izzy made his second appearance in the minors and left with a twinge in his back making the front office look like fortune tellers...
