Post Game Wrap-Up: Aint Nothin But A Gee Thang!

The Mets defeated the Nationals today by the score of 1-0 behind a fantastic pitching performance by Dillon Gee. Gee was outstanding today, carrying a no-hitter into the 6th which was eventually broken up after 5.2 innings by the opposing pitcher Livan Hernandez. He was in complete control all afternoon. He started to tire in the Top of the 8th but Tim Byrdak came on to retire the side. Gee's final line was very impressive as he went 7.2 IP, while giving up only 2 hits, 3 BB, and struck out 3.

The Mets only run came in the Bot of the 4th. After singles from Josh Thole and Jason Bay, Justin Turner once again delivered with a clutch 2 out RBI single to CF to give the Mets the lone run they would need on the afternoon.

Game Notes:

-Jason Bay was 3-4.
-Ruben Tejada went 2-3.
-Today's win was the Mets 2nd consecutive shut out.

What more can you say about Justin Turner? The guy was sent to Triple-A in favor of Brad Eamus for the simple reason that he had options and Eamus was a rule V guy. He didn't get discouraged and when he was finally re-called he has done nothing but produce. Turner is now htting .333, with a HR, and 13 RBI over 51 AB's.

The Mets will play the Yankees tomorrow night in the first installment of this years Subway Series. Game time is 7:05 PM.
