Pre-Game: Game 44 - New York Mets VS New York Yankees

The Mets will play the Yankees tonight in the Bronx edition of the Subway Series. The Yankees have won 3 straight after dropping 6 in a row and are coming off a 13 run outburst last night against the Baltimore Orioles. The Mets will reach the .500 mark tonight for the 1st time since April 9th (4-4) with a win. The Mets and Yankees split the season series last year as they each took 2 of 3 games in their home parks.

On the mound for the Mets will right-handed knuckleballer R.A. Dickey (1-5, 5.08). Dickey who is coming off a loss to the Astros in which he gave up 6 ER (4 in the 1st inning) and 11 hits over 5.1 IP, will look to get his season on track. He has struggled terribly in 2011 after a breakout campaign a year ago. Dickey has never started against the Yankees, however he does have success VS the American League as he went 3-0, with a 1.29 ERA in interleague play last year.

Taking the ball for the Yankees will be RHP Freddy Garcia (2-3, 3.22). After starting the season off pitching very well, Garcia has struggled as of late dropping 3 of his lat 4 starts, with a 4.63 ERA during that span. The last time Garcia faced the Mets was a losing effort on April 17, 2007 as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies.
