Announcers Pitch In for a Good Cause, Raise Money for Safe House for Victims of Domestic Abuse

WHAT: Gary Cohen and Ron Darling guest bartend at Foley’s during the Mets-Yankees “Subway Series” game to raise money to help victims of domestic abuse.

WHERE: Foley’s NY Pub and Restaurant  18 W. 33rd Street (near 5th Ave, across from Empire State Bldg)

WHY: All proceeds go toward building a safe house for victims of domestic abuse and their families.

Note: May 21, 2011, is the 30th anniversary of the “Greatest Pitched Game in College History” in which Yale’s Ron Darling faced future Mets teammate Frank Viola, then of St. John's University, and had a no-hitter through 11 innings.

In the 12th, SJU broke up the no-hitter and scored on a double-steal to beat Darling 1–0. The game remains the longest no-hitter in NCAA history and is considered to be the best in college baseball history.
