Around The Minors From 6/20/2011


Short Season Rookie Ball - Brooklyn Cyclones - Brooklyn defeated Aberdeen last night by the score of 5-4. 2B Brandon Brown went 2-4, with a SB and is now hitting .444 on the young season.

Single-A - Savannah Sand Gnats - The Savannah Sand Gnats were off last night.

Single-A Advanced - St. Lucie Mets - The St. Lucie Mets defeated Charlotte last night by the score of 3-2 in 11 innings and clinched the Florida State League’s first-half title. 21-year old RF Cesar Puello drove in the winning run with a 2-out RBI 2B in the Bottom of the 11th. Puello was 3-5 in the game. Top prospect Matt Harvey started the game for St. Lucie and was outstanding once again going 6 innings, while giving up 2 runs (1 ER)5 hits, 2 BB, and struck out 4, all while lowering his ERA to 2.37.

Double-A - Binghamton Mets - The B-Mets were off last night.

Triple-A - Buffalo Bisons - The Bisons lost to Durham last night 2-1. DH Zach Lutz was 2-4 and connected for his 2nd HR of the year, a solo shot in the 6th inning. LF Nick Evans also went 2-4.
