Around The Minors From 6/26/2011


Short Season Rookie Ball - Brooklyn Cyclones (7-3, 2nd place) - The Cyclones defeated the Aberdeen IronBirds yesterday by the score of 6-1. Second baseman Brandon Brown went 1-4 and hit his 3rd HR of the year. Brown is now hitting .400 on the young season.

Single-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (3-1, 1st place) - The Savannah Sand Gnats defeated the Augusta Green Jackets yesterday by the score of 2-0. Starting pitcher Taylor Whitenton threw 6 innings of 4-hit shut out ball and improved to 4-1 on the season.

Single-A Advanced - St. Lucie Mets (2-1, 2nd place) - The St. Lucie Mets lost to Bradenton by the score of 11-3 yesterday. Right-fielder Cory Vaughn went 1-3, with a 2B and an RBI in the loss.

Double-A - Binghamton Mets (27-46, 5th place) - The B-Mets lost to the Bowie Baysox yesterday by the score of 6-4. Right-hander Matt harvey made his much anticipated Double-A debut and it did not go the way he planned. Over 4.2 innings, Harvey gave up 4 ER on 9 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts during the loss.

Triple-A - Buffalo Bisons (33-45, 4th place ) - The Buffalo Bisons defeated the Norfolk Tides by the score of5-3. Right-fielder Fernando Martinez went 2-4, with a 2B, 2 RBI, and a run scored. 1B Val Pascucci went 1-4 and blasted his 10th HR of the year in the Bisons win.
