Injury Report: Ike Davis Not Improving, Surgery Possible

According to SNY's Kevin Burkhardt, Ike Davis' bone bruise is still present and has caused a cartilage issue in his ankle. He will be re-evaluated in 3 weeks and if the issue does not disappear by then, microfracture surgery is a possibility which will certainly end Ike Davis' season.

Analysis: This very frustrating. When the injury first appeared, Davis was hoping to play the next day. Now it has lingered on for 1 1/2 months and could possibly end Davis' season. This seems to happen time and time again with this organization. A player gets hurt, says they think they will play the next day, and then all of a sudden they need season ending surgery. I don't know what the cause for this is, but I can tell you it is extremely frustrating as a fan and makes it hard for us to trust any future injury reports without us holding our collective breaths.
