Injury Updates: Wright, Niese & Santana

David Wright, who was cleared for baseball activities last week has been progressing. ESPN's Adam Rubin reported this afternoon that Wright is expected to begin hitting off of a tee on Wednesday. His return is still expected to be weeks away as he still needs to return to playing shape after more than a month of no activity whatsoever.

Jonathan Niese was examined by doctors at a local Detroit hospital. Dave Lennon, of the New York News Day has reported that Niese was diagnosed with tachycardia (rapid heartbeat) and will have to wear a Holter monitor for the next 24 hours. At that time, doctors will assess those readings and hopefully have a better understanding of what happened to Jon in the heat in Arlington, TX. It is unknown if this will effect his next scheduled start.

Also reported by ESPN's Adam Rubin, Johan Santana's scheduled throwing session off of a mound in Port St. Lucie, FL was cancelled this afternoon. No, he has not experienced a set back. Mother nature simply got in the way, as an afternoon rain system postponed his workout.
