Pre-Game: Game 73 - Oakland A's VS New York Mets

The Mets will try and rebound from their series loss to the Angels by taking on another AL west foe. The ball club will open a 3 game series with the Oakland A's tonight from Citi Field. The A's are currently on a 5 game winning streak and have gotten themselves back in division contention with their recent surge. The Mets are still having trouble climbing over the .500 mark, yet remain only 4.5 games back (4 in the lost column) in the Wild Card race.

On the mound for the Mets tonight will be right-hander Dillon Gee (7-0, 2.86). Gee has been nothing short of spectacular in 2011 as he has been the anchor of the Mets rotation despite them in early May. Gee had to exit his last start early due to a rain delay but was fantastic in his brief outing, only allowing 1 hit across 4 innings.

Toeing the rubber for the A's will be left-hander Josh Outman (2-1, 3.14). Outman is coming off his best outing since undergoing Tommy John surgery as he tossed seven scoreless innings in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Kansas City, allowing four hits and two walks.
