Pre-Game: Game 78 - New York Mets VS Texas Rangers

The Mets and Rangers will play the rubber game of their 3 game series this afternoon at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas. After losing game 1 of the series by the score of 8-1, the Mets offense jumped out in front of Rangers young starter Alexi Ogando by putting of a 3 spot before the Rangers even came to bat. They then kept adding on runs in support of yesterday's winning pitcher Jon Niese en route to a 14-5 win. Niese had to leave the game after 5.1 innings pitched due to what Mets trainers deemed an irregular heartbeat and will be examined by doctors in Detroit tomorrow.

Taking the mound for the Mets in hopes of securing the series win will be right-hander Dillon Gee (7-1, 3.21). Gee suffered his first loss of the season last Tuesday night as he was uncharacteristically wild as he walked 6 Oakland A's. This will be a homecoming for Gee who grew up only 45 minutes away from Arlington. The rookie has never faced his home town Rangers and will catch a little break as Rangers MVP OF Josh Hamilton will sit todays game out.

On the mound for the Rangers will be left-hander Derek Holland (6-2, 4.69). The left-hander bounced back from two bad starts by allowing only 3 runs in 7.1 IP on monday while picking up the win to improve to 3-0, with a 6.10 ERA at home this season. Holland has the best runs support in the league when pitching at home as the Rangers score an average 8.92 runs per game for him.
