Around The Minors From 7/13/2011


Short Season Rookie Ball - Brooklyn Cyclones (12-13, 3rd place) - The Clyclones lost to Auburn yesterday by the score of 9-3. Right-Fielder Charles Thurber went 1-2, with an RBI and 2 BB's in the loss.

Single-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (14-6, 1st place) - The Sand Gnats defeated Lexington by the score of 7-3. 3B Aderlin Rodiguez delivered the big hit for the Sand Gnats, launching a Grand Slam in the 7th inning to break the game open. Rodiguez went 1-5 in the game, with 5 RBI.

Single-A Advanced - St. Lucie Mets (11-7, 1st place) - St. Lucie defeated Lakeland by the score of 6-5 yesterday. Cory Vaughn provided all the offense St. Lucie would need as he went 1-3, with a HR (3), 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Starting pitcher Darin Gorski picked up the win, moving his record in 2011 to 9-0 as the threw 6 inning and gave up 4 ER. The 23 year old, 7th Rd pick in the 2009 draft is really starting to make a name for himself as one of the Mets top prospects. A promotion to Double-A may be in his near future.

Double-A - Binghamton Mets (35-55, 6th place) - The B-Mets were off last night. However, in last night's Double-A ASG, B-Mets SS Jordany Valdespin led off and went 0-2 and B-Mets 2B Joshuan Satin hit 2nd, and went 0-1, with a BB.

Triple-A - Buffalo Bisons (38-53, 5th place ) - The Bisons were off last night. However, in last night's Triple-A ASG, Bisons SP Chris Schwinden pitched a perfect inning of relief.
