Around The Minors From 7/9/2011


Short Season Rookie Ball - Brooklyn Cyclones (11-10, 2nd place) - The Clyclones defeated the Connecticut Tigers by the score of 3-2. SS Daniel Muno went 2-5, with a 2B and 2 RBI in the win.

Single-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (13-3, 1st place) - The Sand Gnats lost to Greensboro by the score of 5-0. The Gnats were only able to muster 3 hits on the night, 1 coming from DH Darrell Ceciliani.

Single-A Advanced - St. Lucie Mets (8-5, 1st place) - St. Lucie split a double-header with Tampa yesterday by losing the first game 3-1 and winning the second game 6-5. The only run of game 1 for the Mets came on a solo HR from Stefan Welch. In Game 2, LF Juan Lagares led the way going 3-6, with a HR (6), 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Cory Vaughn recording the game winning RBI when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Double-A - Binghamton Mets (31-55, 6th place) - The B-Mets defeated New Britain by the score of 9-5. Jeurys Familia got the win despite not having his best stuff. Across 5.1 innings, Familia gave up 4 runs, on 6 hits, and two walks. He struck out 7. CF Matt Den Dekker paced the Mets offense by going 2-5, with a 2B, and 2 runs scored.

Triple-A - Buffalo Bisons (38-51, 5th place ) - The Bisons were shutout by Pawtucket 2-0. Pat Misch was the tough luck loser as he threw 6.1 IP of 2 run (0 ER) ball. Jesus Feliciano recorded 1 of 2 Bison hits on the day (2B).
