Carlos Beltran Rumor Mill

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, one player discussed as potentially going to the Mets in a Carlos Beltran trade with the Giants is LHP Jonathan Sanchez.

Analysis: Finally a rumor that mentions actual players. If this deal is indeed on the table, I don't see how the Mets turn it down. Sanchez , who is 29 years old, has been known to be wild at times, but when he is on, is extremely effective. Many people compare him to Oliver Perez in that his stuff is there, but he seems to have trouble mentally. I disagree with that assessment. He is definitely more aware than Oliver Perez has ever been. He already has a no-hitter under his belt, and has proved to be highly effective in the Major's. I think putting him in a rotation with Johan Santana could only help his cause, as the young lefty would certainly be willing to listen to a grizzled ace such as Santana, something Oliver Perez never did. Add in the fact that he would still be under Mets control through 2012, if I'm the Mets, I make this deal immediately.
