Chacin makes his first start in Buffalo..

Along with Fernando Perez the Mets also signed another former promising prospect who has lost his way in AAA.  Gustavo Chacin was the 2005 Topps rookie of the year for LHP, that year as a starter in the Jays rotation he went 13-9 in 34 starts with a 3.72 ERA.  The next year he made 17 major league starts going 9-4 but with a 5.05 ERA.  He only made five starts in 2007 before not returning to the majors until 2010 with the Astros where he appeared in 44 games as a reliever with a 4.70 ERA.

In six seasons at AAA he has posted an ERA of 4.26 with a 1.48 WHIP.  He makes his first start tonight as a Bison and continues to struggle giving up three runs and not through the second as of yet.

Chacin, 30, was 3-6 with a 5.13 ERA in 27 games earlier this season for Triple-A Oklahoma City, an Astros affiliate. Spending most of last season as a reliever with Houston, Chacin made his mark in the big leagues as a 25-year-old rookie in 2005, finishing 13-9 with a 3.72 ERA in 203 innings. source MiLB
