Pre-Game: Game 103 - New York Mets VS Cincinnati Reds

The Mets and Reds will play game 2 of their 4 game series tonight in Cincinnati. The best received an excellent outing by starting pitcher R.A. Dickey last night, and will look for much of the same tonight from tonight's starter Jon Niese. Despite a slow start, the Mets offense finished strong as they scored 4 runs in the 7th to come back from a 1-0 deficit heading into the inning.

On the mound for the Mets will be left-hander Jon Niese (9-8, 3.76). Niese struggled during Thursday's 6-2 loss to St. Louis, yielding five runs, three earned, over six innings. He hasn't been particularly sharp against the Reds in his career either, as he sports a record of 0-1, and 4.61 ERA over 13.2 IP. If Niese can get a win tonight, he will reach the 10 win plateau for the first time in his career.

On the hill for the Reds tonight will be right-hander Johnny Cueto (6-3, 1.98). Cueto has held opponents to two or fewer runs eight times during his run of 11 consecutive quality starts, the longest single-season stretch for a Reds pitcher since Bronson Arroyo posted 13 in a row July 28-Sept. 30, 2009. The Mets have handled Cueto very well in the past however, as he is 0-2, with an 8.14 ERA across 21 innings pitched against New York.
