Pre-Game: Game 104 - New York Mets VS Cincinnati Reds

The Mets begin the post Carlos Beltran error tonight as they play game 3 of their 4 game series with the Reds tonight from Great American Ball Park. News broke this afternoon that Carlos Beltran would be traded to the SF Giants in exchange for highly touted pitching prospect Zack Wheeler. Beltran new last night would probably be his last game played as a Met, and in a classy move, he took the entire active roster out to dinner to say goodbye. With Beltran gone, Lucas Duda will get the opportunity to play everyday in RF, and prove to the Mets that he is a key cog in the future of the organization.

On the mound for the Mets will be right-hander Mike Pelfrey (5-9, 4.73). Pelfrey has been flat out terrible in 2011, and is 0-2 with a 5.29 ERA over his last three starts. Pelfrey, 2-8 with a 5.79 ERA in 13 road starts, has won his only two decisions in Cincinnati while compiling a 5.50 ERA in three games. However, he hasn't appeared there since a victory on April 8, 2009.

Taking the hill for the Reds will be right-hander Bronson Arroyo (7-8, 5.56). Arroyo has struggled this season as he has been victimized by the long ball, giving up a major-league-high 29, two fewer than his career high set in 2006 and matched in 2009. Arroyo's career number against the Mets are fantastic as he is 7-2, with a 3.31 ERA over 81.2 innings pitched.
