Pre-Game: Game 93 - Philadelphia Phillies VS New York Mets

The Mets will try and rebound from a dismal loss yesterday and get back on the winning track today as they play game 2 of their 3 game series with the Phillies. It won't get any easier today as Carlos Beltran will be out of the lineup due to flu like symptoms.

On the mound for the Mets will be left-hander Jon Niese (8-7, 3.88). Niese last pitched on July 6th in LA and allowed 3 runs over 7 innings in a 5-3 win. In his career against Philadelphia, Niese is 2-3, with a 3.11 ERA over 37.2 innings.

On the hill for the Phillies will be left-hander Cole Hamels (11-4, 2.32). Hamels has been dominant this year and the argument can be made that he has been the best pitcher on the best starting rotation in baseball. Hamels has struggled in his career against the Mets, pitching to the tune of a 3-9 record, and a 4.22 ERA, although he did win his last start against the Mets at Citi Field. In that start he went 7 innings, and struck out 10 Mets hitters, while only allowing 2 ER.
