Pre-Game: Game 94 - Philadelphia Phillies VS New York Mets

The Mets and Phillies will play the rubber game of their 3 game series this afternoon at Citi Field. After dropping the series opener 7-2, the Mets bats exploded yesterday without Carlos Beltran (Flu) for 11 runs, 7 off of Phillies all-star left-hander Cole Hamels. Beltran's replacement in RF, Scott Hairston had a career day as he was 3-5, with a HR and 5 RBI.

On the mound for the Mets today will be right-hander Mike Pelfrey (5-8, 4.55). Pelfrey's struggles this year have been well publicized and it won't get any easier for him today as he has struggled against the Phillies in 2011 (0-1, 7.71). Ryan Howard has always given Pelfrey trouble as he is 14-37, with 3 HR in his career against the Mets right-hander.

On the hill for the Phillies will be right-hander Kyle Kendrick (4-4, 3.58). Since stepping into the Phillies rotation in place of injured right-hander Joe Blanton, Kendrick has really helped solidify an already fantastic rotation. Despite a 3-5 record in his career against New York, he has pitched well as he sports a 3.07 ERA.
