Around The Minors From 8/13/2011


Short Season Rookie Ball - Brooklyn Cyclones (32-24, 2nd place) - The Cyclones defeated Mahoning Valley by the score of 2-1. Third-Basemen Richard Lucas went 2-4, with a 2B, RBI, and Run scored in the win.

Single-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (30-17, 1st place) - The Sand Gnats game with Greenville was suspended due to rain.

Single-A Advanced - St. Lucie Mets (26-23, 4th place) - St. Lucie lost to Charlotte by the score of 5-1. Despite picking up the loss, prized prospect (Carlos Beltran trade) Zack Wheeler pitched well as he went 5 innings, allowing only 1 run, on 5 hits, 3 BB, and struck out 3.

Double-A - Binghamton Mets (50-70, 6th place) - The B-Mets defeated Richmond by the score of 7-0. Starting Pitcher Jeurys Familia was excellent last night. In 5 innings pitched, he only allowed 2 hits and struck out 7 Flying Squirrel's en route to the 7-0 win.

Triple-A - Buffalo Bisons (51-69, 5th place ) - The Bisons defeated Durham by the score of 7-6 last night. Designated Hitter Val Pascucci continued his fantastic season as he went 3-3, with a HR (18), 3 RBI, and 2 Runs scored in the win.
