Post Game: Mets Defeat Padres 5-4

Losing David Wright, Jose Reyes, Daniel Murphy, Jason Bay, Angel Pagan, Ike Davis, Chris Young to the disabled list for parts of the season and trading away All Stars Carlos Beltran and Francisco Rodriguez should have spelled the end of the season. It should spell that the team would plummet out of contention, below .500.

Tonight the New York Mets rallied in the 8th inning to score 3 runs and have their second come from behind victory in a row, defeating the San Diego Padres 5-4.

Boiling Points:
  • Chris Capuano(ND, 4.51 ERA) had another inconsistent outing, pitching 6+ innings while allowing 4 runs on 9 hits, barely keeping the Mets in the game.
  • Manny Acosta pitched a scoreless inning in relief but left the game with trainer Ray Ramirez to an apparent injury.
  • DJ Carrasco picked up his first win as a New York Met, pitching a scoreless 8th inning.
  • Jason Isringhausen recorded his 299th save of his career en route to locking down the Mets victory.
  • Angel Pagan hit his second home run in as many nights to bring the Mets within a run in the bottom of the 8th inning.
  • Lucas Duda remained hot, recording 2 hits and raising his average to .280 on the year.
  • Scott Hairston crushed the ball in his first two at bats, missing a home run by 10 feet in first plate appearance before hitting an RBI double in his second plate appearance. He would be pulled in a double switch for Mike Baxter
  • Ruben Tejada walked in the bottom of the 8th with the bases loaded to score the eventual winning run.
  • Of the Mets 9 hits, 7 came from the first 6 in the lineup.
