Murphy Tears MCL, Won't Require Surgery

And that's that... According to ESPN's Adam Rubin, Daniel Murphy's season is over. In the 7th inning of todays game, Murphy was covering second base on what turned into Jose Constanza's first Major League stolen base. Upon sliding into the back, Constanza's unintentionally slid into Murphy's left knee causing it to buckle inward.

Ruben confirms that Murphy has a Grade 2 tear in his MCL and while he will not have to undergo surgery at this time, he will have a minimum of a four month rehabilitation period.

So, I suppose the while the bad news is that Murphy's year is over, the good news remains that he should be ready for spring training.
