Post-Game: Mets lose 6-2, Swept by Milwaukee

The Mets lost to the Brewers by the score of 6-2 and were swept in their 3 game weekend series. R.A. Dickey started for the Mets and pitched very well allowing only 2 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings of work. Trailing 2-0 in the Bot of the 7th, Lucas Duda tied the game on a monstrous 2-run HR over the RF wall. The Mets bullpen however gave the lead right back in the Top of the 8th by allowing 2 runs and then allowed the Brewers to break the game open in the 9th as they scored 2 more.

Game Notes:
  • Angel Pagan went 2-4 with a 2B.
  • Lucas Duda went 1-4 and hit his 6th HR of the year.
The Mets bullpen was awful once again. There is really no other way to describe it. Whether it's Beato, Parnell, Isringhausen, Brydak, or Acosta, they always seem to fail in clutch situations. This will obviously be a major area of concentration for Sandy Alderson this winter. The lone bright spot of today's game was Lucas Duda. He has basically been playing everyday since the Mets traded Carlos Beltran to SF and has made the most of his opportunity as he blasted his 6th HR of the year. He is really making a case to be part of the long term solution in Flushing.

The Mets hit the road tomorrow for a brief stop in Philadelphia for a 3 game series with the 1st place Phillies. Starting pitchers for tomorrow's game will be Jon Niese for the Mets and Cliff Lee for the Phillies.
