Pre-Game 119: New York Mets(58-60) @ Arizona Diamondbacks(66-53)

After falling behind early yesterday night to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the New York Mets looked primed to rally from behind as they've done for much of the year. However, after former Met J.J Putz was able to lock down the save for the National League West leading Diamondbacks, the Mets fell two games under .500 for the first time since June 24th.

Mike Pelfrey(6-9, 4.53 ERA) will take the mound at Chase Field tonight after making the following comments about the Mets chances in 2011:
"It’s unrealistic for anybody at the end of last year to come in and say, ‘The Mets, this is a one-year thing, next year we’re going to win it all…It’s unrealistic.”
Pelfrey has, to put it nicely, struggled in his career at Chase Field, posting an ERA over 9. As of late, Pelfrey has definitely been much better on the mound, posting a formidable 3.80 ERA over his last 10 starts. Pelfrey struggled during his last outing against the San Diego Padres, allowing 4 runs in 6 1/3 innings.

Daniel Hudson(11-8, 3.83 ERA) will look to continue the Diamondbacks winning streak tonight, coming off of a less than impressive performance himself against the Houston Astros in which he was hammered for 4 runs and 11 hits in 3 innings. Hudson has seemed to tire as the season has worn on, posting an ERA over 4 in the second half thus far.
