Pre-Game 122: New York Mets @ San Diego Padres

The Mets and Padres will meet in game 2 of their 3 game series this evening from Petco Park. The Mets were able to come away with a victory last night in 10 innings after blowing a 4-1 lead. It was a historic evening for reliever Jason Isringhausen as he recorded career save number 300.

The Mets will look to left-hander Jon Niese to carry them to the series victory. Niese (11-9, 4.03) is looking to extend his career high road winning streak to six as he makes his first career appearance at pitcher friendly Petco Park. He was the hard luck loser in a 3-2 loss to the Padres at Citi Field last Thursday. In that start, he went 7 innings, allowing 2 ER while throwing 122 pitches.

On the mound for the Padres will be left-hander Cory Luebke (4-6, 3.09). Luebke held New York to 2 runs and 3 hits in five innings Thursday, but walked a career high four batter while hitting 2 others. He struck out 8 but did not get the decision. Tonight will be his second career start VS New York.
