So we don’t know the winning team or bid amount yet, though the Giants and Brewers have both clarified that they did not bid. So who might the winner be? My first three guesses would the Mets, the A’s, and the Rockies. But I’m not really up on the infield needs of most of MLB, so those really are random guesses. source NPB tracker

The bidding process for Japanese short stop Hiroyuki Nakajima is over and the the highest bidder will be informed tomorrow. There was some speculation last night that Terry Collins was hinting that the Mets were in on the short stop, but I didn't read it that way. To me Collins was responding to a question as a manager, basically saying yeah if I had him I'd use him. Collins is familiar with Nakajima due to his time in Japan, so he could have given the team his opinion as to how seriously to take the opportunity. Seibu does have the option of declining the bid if they feel it's not enough but they have already committed to accepting the bid no matter what it is...
