The Needs and the budget how I would get it done..

So the Mets big ticket item will be a closer as most of us already knew, but they have 10-15M to fill five spots.  Here's how I would get it done:

Frank Francisco would be my first choice at closer and I think he can be had at a similar cost to that of Matt Capps= 4M

George Sherrill would be my set-up man, he's left handed and has been a dominant closer in the past making him very versatile.  Not much buzz around Sherrill I'm hoping that makes him inexpensive= 2M

Kelly Shoppach a defensive oriented catcher, who works well with pitcher's and has power.  That .224 BA should keep the price down= 2M

Juan Pierre if Pagan is here Pierre could be his back-up plan and a late inning defenisve replacement in the corners. Last season still stole 27 bases and hit .279= 2M.

Scott Hairston not a popular move but I'd bring him back; knows Citi field, has a little power and can play all three spots= 1M

Andres Blanco switch hitter who can play the entire infield and is only 27 y/o. Probably only cost= 500k

Thats 11.5M which leaves a little wiggle room in case I underestimated some of the contracts...
