A complete look at who could take last spot on Bench

Adam Rubin believes that the Mets will fill out the bench with a right handed power threat bat who can play 1b/3b, he finds it very unlikely that a player lacking MLB experience like Zach Lutz which be on the bench.

I still think a left hander would make more sense since a righty would make the entire bench right handed.  But Sandy did say he was looking for a right handed outfielder for the bench even after re-signing Hairston.

In case they stick to the outfielders here's the list I compiled yesterday...

Right Handed Outfielder:

Milton Bradley, Pat Burrell, Greg Golson, Jonny Gomes, Conor Jackson, Austin Kearns, Ryan Ludwick,  Magglio Ordonez, Jason Repko, Cody Ross, Marcus Ryan Spilborghs, Marcus Thames, Vlad

Left Handed Outfielder:

Rick Ankiel, J.D. Drew, Kosuke Fukudome, Willie Harris, Corey Patterson, Juan Pirre, Raul Ibanez, Luke Scott

Here is a list of 1B/3B, I left off players who are probably still starters like Derrek Lee and Carlos Pena...

RHB free agents that could fill out the bench in the corner infield:

Jorge Cantu would be the best fit for Rubin's specification he hit 10 HRs in 2010 and in addition to both corner infield positions he can play 2B/LF/RF. Wes Helms hit 10 HRs 2006 while playing 1B/3B/ corner outfield, Xavier Nady hit 12 HRs in 2008 in addition to RF/1B he played 9 games at 3B, Kevin Kouzmanoff only plays 3B but he's practiced and been discussed as a 1B he hit 11 Hrs last season, Felipe lopez is right handed and can field the right positions but has no power.

LHB free agents that could fill out the bench in the corner infield:

Russell Branyan plays both corners and the outfield he hit 15 HRs in 2010, Wilson Betemit plays multiple positions and hit 13 HRs in 2010. Dan Johnson is primarily a 1B but has 9 games at 3B and hit 7 HRs in 2010, Eric Chavez has a few games at 1B hit 15 HRs in 2007, Craig Counsell like Lopez can field the positions but has no power, Ross Gload and Brad Hawpe only have experience at 3B, while Casey Kotchman has only played 1B
