Gee To Start Spring Training Opener

Earlier in the week it was believed that Johan Santana would start the Mets spring opener when the Mets square off with the Nationals at 6pm on March 5th. Yesterday it was reveal that Santana will instead start the team's second game of the spring in order to him to get another day of long toss in.

Today the Mets have announced that Dillon Gee (and his ridiculous goatee) will start in place of Santana for the opener against the Nats. Santana will start the following day afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals at Digital Domain Park.
