Mets Are A Good Fit For Scott Kazmir

Scott Kazmir will always be the one who got away for a lot of Mets fans.  Cast off as trade bait, he was traded for Victor Zambrano going on a decade ago. As we all know,  Zambrano was a bust in New York and fans have always wondered what could of been.

Fast forward to today and we find Kazmir looking to resurrect his own career, which has been derailed by injury.  On Friday, the Mets will watch him pitch much like that watched Jason Isringhausen audition last spring.

Whether the Mets are legitimately considering Scott tomorrow is anyone's guess, however it would make sense that he will be legitimately considering the Mets.

Mets GM, Sandy Alderson, confirmed that a spot in the rotation would be a real long shot for Kazmir out of spring training. Later on in the year may be another story though.

As documented countless times already, the Mets have minimal depth in the starting pitching department. From Kazmir's standpoint, taking a minor league deal with an organization like the Mets will accomplish two things.  First of, it will give him more time get reinvent himself following spring training while at the same time leaving himself fewer hurdles to clear if and when he does.

There is no telling if Scott Kazmir will ever pitch at the Major League level again, but there is very minimal risk on giving him the opportunity to try.  He could provide the Mets with some depth as the season drags on, and as a result, the Mets may provide him the most realistic.opportunity to realize his comeback.
