Mets send 6 down roster almost set...

The Mets sent down six more players and in doing so pretty much set their roster to open the season, barring a signing, trade or injury.

No big surprises, Mike Baxter beat out Adam Loewen for the left handed outfielder on the bench.  Daniel Herrera will be the left handed reliever if Tim Byrdak isn't ready.  Mike Nickeas will be the back-up catcher and Vinny Rottino will stick around to the last minute in case Andres Torres can't recover in time.

There are still 26 players from the 40 man roster in camp but that includes Chris Schwinden who isn't making the team but is still in camp and Carrasco/Beato who are starting the year on the DL.  Of course, I mentioned Torres and Byrdak, there is still the potential for them to not be ready.

Left in camp from the non-roster invites are Miguel Batista, Josh Edgin, Daniel Herrera, Mike Baxter and Vinny Rottino.  Of the group Batista and Baxter have made the team the others are dependent on injuries.

With Baxter, Batista and maybe Herrera making the team the club could need up to three roster spots, they all could come from placing Carrasco, Mejia and Beato on the 60 day DL.
