Pre-Game: New York Mets (11-8) @ Colorado Rockies (9-9)

Coming off of their sweep of the Miami Marlins, the New York Mets will look to steamroll into the mile high city continuing their winning ways.

The Mets last visit to Colorado represented a turning point in many ways. Carlos Beltran broke out, Ike Davis' season ended unceremoniously and David Wright's injury continued to plague him. Despite this, the Mets would stride toward respectability and managed to pick up a couple of wins.

Chris Schwinden will make his first start of the season as he replaces Mike Pelfrey, who will undergo season ending Tommy John surgery. Schwinden's major league debut last year was met with mix results, starting 4 games and going 0-2 with a 4.71 ERA. Schwinden allowed far too many base runners and his 1.38 WHIP shined through. Starting at Coors Field will be a difficult task for the softer tossing righty, who will need to keep the Rockies off balance in order to have success tonight.

Opposing Schwinden will be the phenom southpaw Drew Pomeranz. Pomeranz was acquired by the Rockies in the trade that sent Ubaldo Jiminez to the Cleveland Indians this year in a deal that's looking to be great for the Rocks. Pomeranz hasn't pitched well during his first two starts this year, allowing 7 runs in 9 innings. However, his strikeout rate is at 1 per inning and has the potential to dominate.

Zach Lutz will make his first major league start at first base tonight, ensuring that Ike Davis won't roll his ankle and be out for the year just yet. Lutz has been unsuccessful in recording his first major league hit but was red hot before reaching the bigs, hitting .333 with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs in 74 plate appearances with AAA-Buffalo.
